Week 1 in the Spica Cast

Well, we have survived the first week of Caleb being in a Spica Cast. That's the good news. The bad news is that he still has 5 more weeks of that torturous contraption. So we are looking at the end of July when he will get out. Mark and I took him to the dr's today for an x-ray and everything looks good, but the dr said "he'll be in this for probably another 5 weeks." I'm really hoping the 'probably' could possibly mean only 3 or 4 weeks, but we shall see. He has another appointment in 2 1/2 weeks and by that time he will be in the cast for nearly 4 weeks.

Life does go on, and it's not really as bad as I'm making it out to be. It really could be a lot worse, and we have the "easy" version of a spica cast (only on one leg). We really have been able to carry on with our lives as usual. He went to church on Sunday, and even went to half of nursery. He watches movies, and plays on the ground with his toys. A few days ago he actually started crawling. So he can get around with a combination of crawling and rolling. He's been to see Toy Story 3 and did a great job in the theatre. I took all three of the kids for a bus ride yesterday to get treats an a convenient store. He has also sat through a few of his brothers baseball games. I lug him around in a wagon, a stroller, or I carry him. He is extremely heavy with the cast on, but I'm getting some super strong arms!!

We are doing well. And we are happy. Caleb laughs and smiles, so he's not too tortured. We are looking foreword to family visiting us soon.

Oh, and Happy 11th anniversay to Mark and me!!!
