One more week

4 weeks down, one more week to go in the spica cast. I am thrilled that Caleb only has a week left, however I'm a little nervous how it's going to be when the cast is finally off. I've done a youtube search and found some pretty sad video's of children trying to walk after a spica cast removal. It looks as though Caleb might have to re-learn how to walk and move his once fractured leg. Poor kid. A few weeks ago over the 4th of July weekend, my family came up to Logan to watch the fireworks. We had a great time and it was a great distraction for Caleb. Last week Mark had youth conference. I went to SLC to break up the week. It was worth listening to Caleb cry for three hours in the car. Next week Mark has another scout camp all week, but the good news is that Caleb gets his cast off the second day he is gone! Then over the 24th we are going up to Bear Lake and Caleb will be able to go to the beach and play in the sand and the water! I really can't wait. Please, oh please make this week go by quickly!!! If the spica cast is getting to me this much, I can't even imagine what it is doing to poor Caleb.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you have to do the spica cast. My son spent 12 WEEKS in a spica cast. He spent the first six weeks in the first cast, and the second six weeks in a different one. (both same style) We needed to do a cast change in surgery because he was only 13 months old and it got lots of urine in the padding.

Good Luck!
