I had so much planned this summer. Going to girls camp with my YW, going to trek with Mark and our stake, 2 sessions of swimming lessons, spending our free days at the pool, going to Bear Lake, hiking the wind caves, then going to NYC before school started. Well, I can still do swimming lessons for the boys, and thankfully Mark and I are still planning on going to NYC, but everything else will have to be dropped or altered a bit, because my poor baby broke his leg.
Tuesday Mark went up to a scout camp to speak at a fireside. I was home with the kids playing outside and decided to go ride our bikes down to the church where the YW were practicing setting up tents for camp the next day. My boys loved the tents and wanted to play inside. When Caleb tried to get out, he tripped, fell, and broke his femur. A spiral fracture that had to be set and now he is in a hip spica cast for 4-6 weeks. I am really hoping and praying it's only 4. Yesterday we were at the hopital ALL DAY and he was miserable. He still gets mad at the fact that he can't move, so either he will have to get used to it, or I will have to get used to the screaming and crying. Hopefully once he is no longer in pain, he will cheer up a little bit. We plan on watching lots of movies, going for lots of walks (in a reclined stroller) and reading lots of books. He can't sit or stand. Sometimes they say kids learn to crawl and even walk in these casts. We shall see.

A huge thanks to all our family and friends for taking our kids, calling to ask for help, or just offering kind words of symathy. James and Andrew have been so busy at Grandma and Grandpa's and playing with their cousins that i haven't even seen them since we went to the hospital.

Oh that picture is just too sad! Sending all my love your way and crossing my fingers for only 4 weeks of the cast!
(And I selfishly hope you still make it to NYC! You'll have more than earned that vacation!)
Poor baby :(!!
Now might be an excellent time to get Netflix with live streaming...
Heidi!!! Ahh!!! When Craig was in getting his fallen out tooth fixed while I was at girls camp, he told me of your tragedy! Of all your kids I can't believe Caleb has to be the one stuck in one spot because it is sooo not his personality! But one day next year you can look at this and laugh and in the meantime I will just have to take your older boys with me when we hit the pools! Let me know what I can do to help! I assume swimming this Tues. is out!
Oh I am so sorry! What a cast that is--poor little guy. And poor mama! I hope your "plan B" summer will still be fun :) Let's just hope that it really will be just 4 weeks for little Caleb. Good luck Heidi!
