I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine yesterday. We were actually visiting teaching (she is my companion). She was telling me of how her mom told her to look at this blog about a woman who was in an accident, and so many people were so impressed about how amazing she was because of her blog that they gave her $100,000 to help pay for medical expenses (I hope that made sense). Apparently her blog showed how incredibly neat her home was, how cute and well behaved her children were, and all the fun things she was able to make and do being a SAHM (stay at home mom). I know there has to be more to this story, but that's all I got. My friend was talking about how unrealistic this woman's life is for most people, and that there are so many expectations on women these days. But I told her that I bet this woman has bad hair days, her house is not always immaculate, she yells at her children (and maybe her husband), and her children fight and yell at each other, but she just doesn't blog about those days. Many of you know about this blog, and maybe some of you find it offensive, but personally I think it is funny and should not be taken so serious, seriously (haha). Plus, that blog is fake. So here is something very real-my messy house! I know it's not horrible, but it's definitely not something to brag about! Oh, and there were some rooms that were just sooo bad (my bedroom) and I know Mark would not approve of me showing it. And as of right now, I have no intention of cleaning my house. I'm drying apples, feeding my babe, then I need to go buy drinks for James' soccer team. It'll have to wait. :)

Heidi,
This is seriously one of the best blog posts I've seen in a while! It always makes me feel better to see a mess at someone else's house. I think we all need to stop trying to live up to other people's "perfect" houses, because, yes, normal for most of us is far from perfect.
So thanks for sharing. My house is often way worse, by the way!
Ahhh--a real person's home like mine :) Thanks for posting your honest pics and making me feel less stressed about the state of my house! I have been thinking about the issue of blogs showing everything that is just so "perfect" too--and I just want to make sure mine is "real"--to show the good along with the bad along with the fun days and the hard days.
I do know the blog your friend told you of and I didn't have quite the same take on it as she did--seems more like a blog showing how to enjoy the journey of motherhood and being a wife even with all the craziness it throws at you. You should check it out and see for yourself though (let me know if you want the link :)
You are my new hero.
Heidi you are hilarious! I bet you messed up the house just to make us feel better :). I used to try to keep the main level "perfect" so people would think I had a clean house. I've let things go a little (ok, sometimes a lot) and have more time for fun.
LOVE IT Heidi! Thanks!
You all say your houses are messy, so let's see them!!!
Carrie-yes I would like that link to check out the blog myself! Thanks!
I just have to say one thing ~ Amen!!~ I'm so glad you blogged about the FAKE blog (a cousin called me yesterday to say she found it offensive that I thought it was funny and then I had to tell her it was fake...there was silence and then laughing) and also that you could be absolutely "real" with all of us!!
so here's the link:

her family has started reposting some of their sister's earlier entries since she is in critical condition in the hospital and will be recovering from her accident for a long time yet.
Hey, what're you doing posting pictures of my messy house?? ;). I FINALLY filed a foot tall stack of papers that have been sitting next to my computer for 8 months this weekend. Alan was amazed to see that there was a scanner underneath it all. I've got similar clutter messes in pretty much every room. That's life. I'll never have a perfect house. If I did, my kids would be neglected.
